World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, Bogotá 2017

  • The Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates will be held in February 2017, postulated by the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce before the secretariat of the organization.

24 laureates have confirmed their attendance for the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates that will take place February 2nd to 5th in Bogotá, and will bring together leaders and organizations that have stood out for their work in favor of peace.

Mohamed ElBaradei, who received the Nobel Prize for preventing the proliferation of nuclear weapons; Shirin Ebadi, Iranian human rights defender and Rigoberta Menchú, a renowned Guatemalan activist noted for her work in favor of the native communities in her country, are some of the laureates who have confirmed their visit to Bogota, where they will present their experiences in conflict resolution.

BCC president Mónica de Greiff said, "it is an honor and a great opportunity to welcome these world leaders, who have so much to say about peace, reconciliation and forgiveness, at a crucial moment like the one we live in in Colombia with the Peace Agreement".

The Nobel Peace Prize is the most important civil and political recognition that can be given to a person or organization in the world. It is awarded to leaders who have changed the history of their people to achieve unity.

The proposed agenda includes various activities with the laureates, such as forums and debates in different scenarios, where participants can interact with them and listen to their testimonies.

The Summit also opens a space for young people from different countries to participate in the dialogue with laureates and share their visions and experiences on peacebuilding.

The event will be held in Corferias, and any citizen may attend by filling out the registration form at www.bogota-nobelpeacesummit.com.
